AMOR statue

The Spanish-version piece based on Philadelphia’s iconic LOVE sculpture was on loan to the city for the historic visit by Pope Francis in the fall of 2015. Spanish is the pope’s native language.

The AMOR sculpture had been atop the Philadelphia Museum of Art’s steps since the papal visit, and the plan was for it to part ways with the city in spring 2016. But it's now staying permanently in Philadelphia and formally dedicated at Sister Cities Park near the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul on Logan Square.

Artist : Robert Indiana (1928 - 2018)

Year 1998; installed 2015; relocated 2016

Medium : Polychrome aluminum painted red and blue

Dimensions: 72″x72″x36″

Acquired through the generosity of the City of Philadelphia, the Morgan Art Foundation, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, Mrs. Edith R. Dixon, and the Association for Public Art

Owned by the City of Philadelphia
